Overview

We’re proposing to build a 4-storey office and a new public square.

The main factors influencing our proposals are:

  • Making more productive use of a redundant retail site – this is an excellently located piece of Portsmouth city centre and it needs to do more for the city.
  • Creating a building with outstanding sustainability credentials – the building will be low carbon and energy efficient, achieving the highest environmental standard – a BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ rating.
  • Putting jobs in the heart of the city centre – where they can give the biggest boost to the city and its economy.
  • Making it easy for people to get to and from work – occupiers in the new office will be moments from Portsmouth and Southsea railway station making it easy for people to make sustainable travel choices.
  • Connecting the site into the city centre more effectively – this is a ‘gateway’ site for people arriving in the city by train. We want to connect it better with the station and the city centre, designing new public space and features that enhance the site and do more for its setting and for the city.
