New public square

A new public square between the station and the proposed office building is an essential part of these proposals. It will have a clear form and function.

In its design, the public square will be landscaped, including ‘hard’ and ‘soft’ features from paving and blockwork to planting and greenery.

We are open to ideas about what people would like to see included – from benches to sculpture and public art.

As well as being a space that connects, the new square will be a place in its own right. Our aim is to create an inclusive natural environment that promotes calm and wellbeing.

It will be a significant addition to public space in the city centre, managed and maintained to a high standard.

The public square will be located at the western end of the site.

The building’s cycle storage area will be directly accessible from the public square to help encourage active travel options.

Our plans for planting and greenery mean the square would significantly increase the current biodiversity of the site, which is limited by fact of it being a tarmac car park.
